Tourism has fared better in 2023 -Muhanga

Chanesa Tembo-Ministry of Tourism Permanent Secretary, EVANS MUHANGA says the tourism sector has performed well this year in comparison to last year.

Mr. MUHANGA says this is due to interventions put in place by both government and stakeholders.

He says interventions such the relaxation of covid-19 measures and waiving tourist visa requirements among others have contributed to the positive performance by the sector.

Mr. MUHANGA however notes that lack of proper road networks and adequate investment in some tourists attraction sites have continued to be the major setback of the sector.

He says some waterfalls and traditional sites among others still need attention for them to be suitable for tourist visits.

Meanwhile, Mr. MUHANGA says the sector is likely to perform much better next year as the Ministry and stakeholders are working on enhancing productivity.

He spoke to ZNBC News in an interview.
