TEACH PEOPLE ON COOPERATIVES – CHIEF CHIPEPO

 

Chief CHIPEPO of the Tonga people of Siavonga, Chirundu and Gwembe Districts in Southern Province has called on the Government  teach people  about cooperatives.

The Chief who is also Chairperson of the House of Chiefs says many people only hear about cooperatives but have no clear understanding of what they are.

And Chief CHIPEPO says the decision by the government to enroll selected traditional leaders and Members of Parliament to pursue Traditional Leadership and Governance at Chalimbana University will help both parties understand their roles in go governance.

He says the Programme will help traditional leaders, law makers and Government to share ideas on how to develop the country.

Speaking when he held a meeting with Small and Medium Enterprise Development Minister, ELIAS MUBANGA in Siavonga today, the Traditional Leader said Chiefs want to see development in all areas.

Meanwhile, Mr. MUBANGA said Traditional Leaders are important in National Development.

He said Chiefs’ knowledge and experience in leadership is what government needs to foster development in rural areas.

Mr. MUBANGA told CHIEF CHIPEPO that he is in the area to share his Ministry’s mandate and make people understand their role in the formation of cooperatives.
