TAMBATAMBA CALLS ON ILO

By Wilson Mulinda-

Labour and Social Security Minister BRENDA TAMBATAMBA has appealed to the International Labour Organization -ILO- to offer technical support on social security reforms.

Ms. TAMBATAMBA says Government is taking the issue cautiously by making wide consultations on the reform process to avoid destabilizing the current system.

She says government is aiming to improve the system and make it more viable and responsive to the current and future needs of the workers.

Ms. TAMBATAMBA was speaking when she held a consultative meeting with Stakeholders from ILO on social security reforms.

Meanwhile, ILO Director in-charge of Social Protection, SHAHRASHOUB RAVAZI assured the Zambian delegation of technical support towards the assessment of the options available for mid-term withdrawal of pension benefits by citizens.

Ms. RAVAZI advised Government to proceed cautiously on the options for mid-term withdrawal to avoid overburdening the pension scheme.
