Steven Gerrard shoulders the blame over Fashion Sakala’s injury blow

According to a report monitored by ZamFoot Crew, Steven Gerrad has taken the blame over Fashion Sakala’s recent injury scare by admitting he pushed the Zambian forward too hard, too fast, and it’s flared up his groin.

Speaking ahead of Sunday’s Scottish Premiership tie against Ross County, the Glasgow Rangers gaffer provided an update on Fashion Sakala’s injury.

“Sakala has got a bit of a niggle in his groin. I think he is paying for myself and the staff pushing him a little bit too quick,” Gerrard admitted.

“Maybe not getting the full preseason, we’ve pushed him a little bit too quick coming out the hotel [quarantine] and putting him back into full training too quick. That part niggles on me,” Gerrard acknowledged.

Gerrard further stated that as frustrating as the wait is, he is giving Sakala as much time on the sidelines as possible for his groin to fully recover.

The Rangers boss is hopeful to have his star summer signing back to full fitness soon, having shown his capabilities when he scored the first goal in Rangers 2-1 win over Spanish giants, Real Madrid in a preseason encounter.
