STATE HOUSE TO SUPPORT KASOMENO MWENDA TOLL ROAD PROJECT

President Edgar Lungu says State House will give all the support needed to expedite the implementation of Kasomeno-Mwenda toll road and Luapula Bridge Project.

President Lungu says the project should expeditiously be implemented because of its economic importance to the economies of Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

ZANIS reports that the Head of State was speaking when he received a report from Luapula Province Minister Nickson Chilangwa and Water Development, Sanitation and Environmental Protection Minister Raphael Nakachinda on the Ministers’ recently undertaken tri
to the DRC.

President Lungu has directed that all the necessary steps agreed to by the Technical Committee be undertaken for the speedy implementation of the Kasomeno-Mwenda Road and bridge project.

President Lungu has also welcomed the proposed trade mission and expo of Zambian goods to the DRC.

The President says his government will work tirelessly hard to ensure all trade between Zambia and DRC barriers are alleviated.

Luapula Province Minister Nickson Chilangwabriefed the Head of State of Luapula Provincial Administration’s plans to expose Zambian investors and producers to the DRC market.

Meanwhile, Water Development, Sanitation and Environmental Protection Minister Raphael Nakachinda briefed President Lungu on plans to establish the Luapula River Authority.

Mr. Nakachinda stated that fruitful discussions with counterparts in the DRC have opened doors for the speedy creation of the authority to manage the Luapula River system.
