STAKEHOLDERS WELCOME HH’S SPEECH

Various stakeholders have welcomed President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA’s speech to parliament on the progress made in the application of National Values and Principles.

Speaking in an interview, Human Rights Commission -HRC- Commissioner AGNESS PHIRI said President HICHILEMA has set a tone on how best the country should address the many challenges.

Reverend PHIRI said ethics and transparency will see the country develop and that it is important for Zambians to embrace hard work.

She said the Human Right Commission will continue to collaborate with Government on a number of issues highlighted in the address to Parliament.

And Some parliamentarians talked to said the speech by the President gives hope to the Zambian people because he has attained some of the promises he made during his first address to parliament.

But Leader of the Opposition in parliament BRIAN MUNDUBILE said the President should have updated the nation on the progress made in upholding values and principles other than expressing intent.

Mr MUNDUBILE however said when Government starts the process of constitutional reforms; it should carry out a countrywide consultation so that every Zambian has an input in the amendment.
