Staff, qualification audit starts at Lusaka City Council

Ruth Chayinda-Local Government Service Commission has started a staff and qualification audit at the Lusaka City Council.

Commission Chairperson ACKSON SEJENI says the audit is aimed at assessing and evaluating the qualifications and capabilities of the officers working at the local authority.

Mr. SEJENI says with the decision to carry out the decentralization policy is important to understand what qualifications are within the councils.

He says the decision also to carry out the audit is aimed at dispelling assertions that the local authority is managed by party cadres.

Mr SEJENI was speaking during a press briefing in Lusaka.

He further said that depending on the findings at the local authority, the commission will then decide whether to extend the audit to other councils countrywide.
