SPECIALIZED SKILLS ARE CRITICAL -MUTATI

Technology and Science Minister FELIX MUTATI says the ministry is in the process of establishing a specialized training institution to offer skills courses critical in the mining sector.

Mr MUTATI says the Copperbelt and northwestern provinces are targeted of hosting the training institutions.

He says specialized skills are critical in reaching the three million metric tons copper production that government is targeting in ten years.

Mr. MUTATI said this in Kalumbila during a meeting with management at Barrick Lumwana this morning.

And Northwestern Province Minister, ROBERT LIHEFU called on the mining firm to double their efforts towards their corporate social responsibility in the communities.

Mr. LIHEFU said government is ready to collaborate with the mining firm to share ideas on how to enable sustainable development among the communities.

And Barrick Lumwana Mine Acting General Manager ABRAHAM MUSONDA disclosed that the mining firm is expanding the life of the mine and explorations have already started in Lubwe area.
