SPEAKER DEMANDS STATEMENT ON ZAMBIAN’S POSITION ON RUSSIA-UKRAINE WAR

Speaker of the National Assembly NELLY MUTI has tasked Minister of Foreign Affairs STANLEY KAKUBO to deliver a Ministerial Statement in parliament over Zambia’s position on the RUSSIA- UKRAINE war.

Mrs MUTI says the move will allay concerns that opposition parliamentarians and members of public are raising on the matter.

Her directive came on the backdrop of point of orders by Patriotic Front- MATERO Member of Parliament MILES SAMPA and his PAMBASHE counterparty RONALD CHITOTELA.

Mr .SAMPA said the lives of ZAMBIANS in RUSSIA and UKRAINE are at risk unless the Zambian government makes a position on the RUSSIA- UKRAINE war.

He said there are ZAMBIAN Nationals in RUSSIA and UKRAINE especially the student populous.

On the other hand Mr. CHITOTELA alleged that the ZAMBIAN government through one of the envoys has voted in favour of UKRAINE in the RUSSIA -UKRAINE war.

Mr .CHITOTELA said the stance is against ZAMBIA’s allegiance to the Non-aligned Movement.
