SOLWEZI ACADEMY ACCIDENT VICTIMS EVACUATED

Four women footballers who were involved in a road accident in Mkushi have been evacuated to Lusaka for further medical treatment.

The plane carrying the patients arrived at Lusaka City Airport at 09:15 hours.

The patients were received by officials from Government, the Football Association of Zambia -FAZ- and officers from the Zambia Air Force.

Sports Minister ELVIS NKANDU says every athlete’s life matters which is why Government has intervened to provide the best medical care for the accident victims.

Mr. NKANDU says his office will closely monitor the recovery of the players and will continue to work with the Ministry of Health to ensure their full recuperation.

He said this through his Ministry’s Assistant Sports Director MABLE NEDZIWE who represented the Minister in receiving the accident victims.

Meanwhile, Zambia Flying Doctors Service Director GEORGE NGUNI said the patients are steadily recovering.

Mr. NGUNI said this through Zambia Flying Service Director operations Colonel LASFORD MANCHISI.

FAZ Communications Manager SYDNEY MUNGALA said the Association will cover all funeral costs for those that died and has provided transport for others involved in the accident.
