Smart Zambia Institute in partnership with the National Institute of Public Administration- NIPA have embarked on a training programme aimed enhancing digital skills for underprivileged girls.

Smart Zambia Institute acting national coordinator Perce Chinyama says the programme will inspire girls from disadvantaged communities to undertake science, technology, engineering and mathematics studies for their future careers.

Mr. Chinyama says enhancing ICT skills in girls will enable them to participate positively in the growth of the economy.

He was speaking during the official opening of the training for girls in Information Communication Technology -ICT- programme.

And NIPA Executive Director Royson Mukwena urged participants to take the programme seriously.

Meanwhile, Ministry of general education Director of planning and information Nicholas Chikwenya said the program is timely as it will help to bridge the existing digital divide and foster digital inclusion for girls in ICT.
