SIKOTA WINA TO BE INTERRED ON TUESDAY

 

Veteran politician and freedom fighter SIKOTA WINA will be put to rest on Tuesday 21st June, 2022 in Royal NAWINDA Village in Mwandi District, Western Province.

And President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has accorded Mr. WINA an Official Funeral in recognition of his distinguished service spanning over 70 years.

The President has declared one day of national mourning in honour of the former Cabinet Minister to be observed on the day of burial.

This is according to a statement released to ZNBC News, by Acting Secretary to Cabinet, PATRICK KANGWA.

Mr. KANGWA said the public is requested to observe the DAY of National Mourning from 06 hours to 18 hours on Tuesday, June 21st, 2022.

He said during the period of National mourning , entertainment activities MUST be postponed or cancelled while all flags will be required to fly at half mast.

Mr. KANGWA said the Official funeral programme will commerce with a Church service to be held at the Anglican Cathedral of the HOLY Cross on Monday, June 20th 2022 at 09 hours.

He said thereafter, the body will be flown to MWANDI in readiness for burial on Tuesday.

Mr. KANGWA said government is appealing to mourners wishing to attend the funeral gathering to observe the COVID -19 guidelines issue by the Ministry of Health to avoid the spread of the disease.

Mr. WINA died at the UTH on Wednesday, June15th, 2022 after an illness.
