Several families have been left homeless after heavy rains blew off roofs for 30 houses, two schools and a church in Siavonga District in Southern Province.

Siavonga Town Council Public Relations Officer GWENDOLYN MCHENGA says the affected areas are Game, Kaleya and Mitchel.

Ms. MCHENGA says the affected structures include classroom blocks and houses at Game Primary and Kariba Primary and Secondary Schools and a church belonging to the Salvation Army.

She has disclosed that the Siavonga District Disaster Management Committee has conducted an assessment in the affected areas to ascertain the damage to the roofs and a report was submitted to the Constituency Development Fund Committee for possible consideration.

This is according to a statement issued by Ms. MCHENGA in Siavonga yesterday .
