Shadreck Musonda’s penalty takes Nkana up to fourth as Chamanga rescues a point for Arrows again

A first-half Shadreck Musonda penalty was enough to hand Nkana a 1-0 win over Nkwazi as they returned to winning ways.

Following last weekend’s humiliation at the hands of Power Dynamos in the Kitwe derby, Nkana welcomed struggling Nkwazi looking to make a quick return to winning ways.

Manfred Chabinga made a number of changes to his starting line up as Chisamba Lungu was handed a starting berth following a nine-month absence due to injury. Simon Mulenga and Richard Ocran were also drafted into the starting line up.

Nkana had a slow start to the match with Nkwazi causing all the problems in the first few minutes. Nkana slowly started coming back into the game with Idriss Ilunga Mbombo leading the charge.

Nkana were awarded a penalty after 22 minutes when Mbombo was brought down in the box and Shadreck Musonda stepped up and slotted home with ease.

In the second Stanza Nkana improved massively especially after the introduction of Ronald Kampamba.

Kelvin Mubanga thought he had scored but his goal was ruled out for offside.

Nkana held on to win 1-0. The win takes them to 27 points and they move to 4th place. The loss for Nkwazi is their tenth in a row and they have not found the back of the net in that same period.

In Ndola, Forest Rangers welcomed Red Arrows in a bid to reclaim the third spot. Fole Malembe went ahead just at the death of the first half, Cedric Djeugoue with the goal for the Ndola based side.

Malembe thought they had secured maximum points but 2012 AFCON winner James Chamanga scored a 90th-minute strike to level matters and make sure the two teams share the spoils.
