Scholarship Board Recovers K135m

The Higher Education Loans and Scholarships Board has recovered over 135 million Kwacha in loan recoveries.

This is out of its targeted 200 million Kwacha for the year 2023.

Board Senior Corporate Communication Officer CHISELWA KAWANDA however noted that tracing of Loan beneficiaries has become a major challenge as most of the beneficiaries are not coming forth as prescribed under the Higher Education Loans and Scholarships Act of 2016.

Ms. KAWANDA announced that the board has awarded student loans to 2,959 applicants from Copperbelt University for the 2023/2024 academic year.

Meanwhile, Copperbelt University Students Union -COBUSU- President INNOCENT NSHINDANO has asked the government to consider those who have made appeals after being left out of the list of successful applicants.
