SALES TAX WELCOME-CTPD

Centre for Trade Coverage and Pattern- CTPD- says the switch by Executive to abolish Price Added Tax -VAT- and substitute it with Sales Tax in the 2019 National budget is welcome.
CTPD Researcher Luminous Chizonde says sales tax will aid authorities wait on its earnings collection.
Mr Chizonde says sales tax has the aptitude to lower earnings leakages.
He says in line with authorities agenda in the 2019 nationwide budget to ranking earnings, sales tax is the model to hotfoot.
Talking to ZNBC News in an interview in Lusaka , Mr Chizonde stated sales tax is non-refundable and a definite formula for presidency to mobilise local sources.
And, Mr Chizonde stated tax refunds had change into a burden to authorities hence the switch to abolish Price Added Tax -VAT – which enables for a refund.
He stated sales tax is easy to administer unlike VAT.
Mr Chizonde extra stated sales tax WILL enable authorities set up billions of Kwacha that’s misplaced in VAT refunds .
