SACCORD Calls For Mutual Respect In Politics

The Southern African Centre for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes -SACCORD- has called for mutual respect and co-operation among political stakeholders.SACCORD- Executive Director Boniface Cheembe says there is need to respect all electoral stakeholders’ roles in order to lay a strong foundation for building a strong consolidated democratic dispensation.Mr. Cheembe has told ZNBC News that the electoral stakeholders need to co-exist to ensure peaceful, credible, free and fair election but can only play their role depending on the extent to which tolerance and the willingness to co-exist prevails.He noted that intolerance and lack of respect among political players and electoral stakeholders in the on-going Chilubi by-election is unfortunate and regrettable.Mr. Cheembe has since appealed to opposition political parties, the ECZ and the Police to have a circle process meeting to dialogue on mutual grounds.He said the gathering will assist the stakeholders have a humanization process that is key in creating a conducive environment for remainder of the campaigns in the Chilubi by-election and future elections.
