Region V Games: Young Bullets and Copper Princesses will not wear KoPa at COSAFA
The Zambia U-17 Women’s national team and the Men’s team will not wear KoPa kit at the tournament, the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has confirmed.Â
The Association also announced that the Under-17 Men’s National Team has settled in Malawi ahead of the TotalEnergies U-17 Africa Cup of Nations in Algeria next year.
FAZ General Secretary Adrian Kashala says the U-17 Girls are expected to leave for Malawi today (Tuesday).
“For the African Union Sports Council (AUSC) Region V Games, it is a government program with FAZ only providing the athletes. Our role in this activity is very limited but we have no doubt that our teams will excel. There is a requirement for specifically branded attire for the tournament†Kashala told FAZ Media.Â
“The U-17 boys’ tournament is particularly important because it is a qualifier for the Africa Cup of Nations while the girls are defending champions for the crown they won in Maseru.â€
Kashala confirmed that Young Copper Bullets and the Copper Princesses will not be clad in KoPa for the Region V Games as the government had kitted all the participating teams.
“For the Region V Games, our football teams will be in attire that is in tandem with the rest of Team Zambia as mandated by the government for this tournament.â€Â
The Zambia U17 girls will open their title defence on Thursday against Botswana while the boys will open their account on Saturday against Mozambique.
