Quotes of the Day: Make it hell for them as Modibo tells Zobrigo

Napsa Stars’ caretaker coach Kampamba ‘Modibo’ Chintu showed why he was part of Zambia’s CAF 2012 African Cup of Nations winning side despite not featuring in a single game in Equatorial Guinea and Gabon.

While Chris ‘Tsunami’ Katongo, Isaac ‘Gattuso’ Chansa and Kennedy Mweene were the generals on the pitch for Herve Renard’s winning side, there were also key members in that group  who  contributed off the pitch.

Noah Chivuta and Chintu have been singled out as Renard’s cheer leaders in that team.

On Wednesday, returned to his hometown Kabwe with Napsa Stars hoping to salvage a victory for the pensioners.

The caretaker coach who replaced Mohammed Fathy called defenders Luka Ng’uni and Banda to give instructions and at the end he pumped them up by uttering the following words.

“You are the same players that qualified for [CAF] Champions league,” Chintu said as he encouraged his defenders to stay tight at the back.

The 40 year old who played for Golden Arrows, Free State Stars and Amazulu in South Africa was not done as he called attacking duo Danny Silawve and Jimmy ‘Zobrigo’ Mukeya to the touchline.

“Danny….Zobrigo, just [give it] a little bit. The defenders are just standing on their own. They will gain confidence [if you don’t close them up],” Modibo said

The former Kabwe Warriors and Power Dynamos assistant coach also had his final words for arguably Zambian Young Player of the Year contender Mukeya.

“Mwaiche wandi, that character that you have, we want to see it now. Don’t make it easy for them. Make their life hell. They should know you can go 120 minutes running.

Mukeya almost made it hell for Warriors in the final five minutes of the first half as he hit the cross bar from range.

‘Zobrigo’ as he is known by his friends has scored 8 league goals since he returned from on loan at Mailati Rangers in January to emerge as the club’s top scorer in the MTN Super League ahead of the likes of Doisy Soko, Emmanuel Mayuka, Laudit Mavugo and Bornwell Mwape

Napsa Stars are currently in the drop zone and will face Zanaco, Nkana and in the final three games of salvage their season as they try to avoid going down to the Eden University National First Division.
