PSMD Tells Retirees To Follow Procedure

February 12, 2020February 12, 202019Public Service Management Division -PSMD- Permanent Secretary Bornface Chimbwali has urged retirees that assemble at Ministry of Justice and Cabinet office to follow right procedure on claiming their pension benefits.Mr Chimbwali says communication on all their claims should be channeled through their legal representatives to the Attorney General’s office.And speaking at a press briefing in Lusaka today, Mr Chimbwali said government has not neglected the plight of retirees that gather at the Ministry of Justice and Cabinet office as their concerns are being well addressed.Mr Chimbwali said public service employees have their social protection schemes such as NAPSA , LASF and Public Service Pensions Fund -PSPF which are committed to meet their statutory obligations to ensure that eligible retired employees are paid their pens on benefits.He further explained that retired employees are maintained on government payroll until they are paid their pension benefits, an effort to ensure that former employees are not destitute.Mr Chimbwali has since advised retirees, who gather at the Ministry of Justice and Cabinet office to channel their claims through their respective lawyers.He said no one is permitted to assemble at the said premises failure to which government shall have NO choice but to invoke legal provisions for unlawful Assembly.
