Lusaka – 21-05-22 – (Zambia24) – Zambia will for the first send two cyclists to take part in the forthcoming Commonwealth Games which will be held in Birmingham in the united kingdom from July 28 to August 2022.
Cycling Association of Zambia (CAZ) president Andrew Chibuye told journalists at the Prize presentation to deserving winners at the just ended Pruride competition Tour de Mikango event that two cyclists were nominated to take part in the commonwealth games after exiting great resilience and skill.
Chibuye who named the two cyclists that represent Zambia as Obert Chembe and Davies Kawemba expressed happiness that the Association is now fully affiliated with the Union Cyclist International (UCI)
He said the two nominees were among the winners of the just ended Pruride competition Tour de Mikango event which took place last Saturday.
He said the winners were selected from among the over 250 contestants that took part in the cycling.
Chibuye encouraged more Zambians to join cycling sports either in their capacity or in clubs to widen their benefits from the awards.
Chibuye thanked Prudential Life Assurance for sponsoring the competition which seeks to promote wellness among citizens in the country.
He said those that want to stay healthy among young people and old alike were free to take part in the competition as nd stand a better chance of benefiting from the allocation set aside by Prudential Life Assurance.
At the same event Chief Operations Officer at Prudential Life Assurance Zambia, Raymond Ngoma said his company is committed to promoting wellness in the country by supporting the sport as witnessed by the sponsoring of the Pru-Ride Lusaka, Tour de Mikango.

Meanwhile, Ministry of Youth and Sports Permanent Secretary Chileshe Kangwa expressed happiness that minor sporting in the country was proving themselves to be worth kf government support.
Kangwa told the winners when graced the event that the government is eager to see more deemed minor sports grow in prominence to fully exploit all of the potentials that the country possesses.
He said it is the policy under the leadership of President Hichilema to support all sports disciplines in the country.
