PROMOTE LOCAL TOURISM-CHITOTELA

By Cecilia Zyambo:Tourism and Arts Minister Ronald Chitotela has advised tour operators in the country to create packages that encourage and support Zambians to visit various tourism sites.Mr. Chitotela cited Kenya as one of the countries where international tourism had dropped but still remained a major earner of income because local people appreciated the industry.He said this when he held a meeting with tour operators in Mfuwe.Mr. Chitotela also advised them to give back to the community as part of their corporate social responsibility.And, United Nations World Tourism Organisation -UNWTO- Secretary General Zurab Pololikashvili emphasized the need for Operators to ensure that Zambia is put on the international Market.Meanwhile, in his vote of thanks Grant Cummings from Chichele Safari said the operators will work with Government and -UNWTO- to get more tourists into the country.And speaking in an interview with ZNBC news, Zambia’s ambassador to France Christine Kaseba said the coming of the UNWTO Secretary General shows government’s efforts in achieving sustainable development through the Seventh National Development Plan-SNDP-.
