POLICE ARREST MUCHELEKA, TWO OTHERS

Police in Kasama have arrested UPND Deputy Secretary General Patrick Mucheleka and two other officials.

This is in connection with the theft and malicious damage to property that occurred yesterday at a designated Mobile National Registration Card issuance center in Chitamba village.

Northern Province Police Commissioner Richard Mweene says the three suspects have been charged with aggravated robbery and malicious damage to property.

Mr. Mweene says police are currently pursuing four other suspects who are on the run.

He has since warned others intending to commit any crime in the province to think twice because police have heightened their approach in dealing with wrongdoings.

Mr. Mweene was speaking to ZNBC News in Kasama today.

And Home Affairs Public Relations Officer Nephas Chifuta disclosed that the equipment that was damaged and stolen at the center will be replaced today.
