Player of the Match Award Delights Mulenga

Zambia Under 20 Women Soccer Team striker Maylan Mulenga is delighted and happy for being named as a player of the match between Zambia And Eswatini which ended 4 – 0 in favor of the Junior Copper Queens.

‘I am very happy because this is my first time winning an award and I will work extra hard in the next game.’ Mulenga speaking.

The Green Buffaloes Women Football Club striker found the back of the net twice.

She gave Zambia the lead after converting from the penalty spot in the 15th minute while Red Arrows enterprising Midfielder Mary Mambwe made it 2-0 eight minutes later. Mulenga completed her brace a minute before the break and had a goal adjudged to be an own goal after it deflected off Gamedze in the 63rd minute.

She has described the Eswatini game as good and the training they had motivated them to win.

‘It was a good game, we prepared a lot and I was optimistic that we are going to win, how we prepared as a team and how we trained motivated us to win’ she said.

Mulenga’s main target is to come out as a Player of the Tournament and lift the trophy with the team.

‘I want to come out as a player of the tournament and also want to make sure we take the trophy to Zambia’ she added

Next assignment for The Junior Copper Queens is Botswana on August 4 and she won’t relax in that game and she’s hoping to work extra hard to achieve her target.

The Young Shepolopolo are Currently leading Group B with 3 points at par with Tanzania but only separated on goal difference while Botswana is on 3rd position with Eswatini locked bottom.
