PF ‘shuts down’ Muvi TV, Komboni Radio and Radio Itezhi-tezhi

The PF government through the Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA) has suspended broadcasting licences forMuvi TV, Komboni Radio and Itezhi-tezhi Radio, for “unprofessional conduct posing a risk to national peace and stability.”

According to a statement issued by the regulating board and obtained by Zambian Eye, the board said the suspension under section 29 (1) 1 of the IBA Act of 2010 which states that the board may cancel broadcasting licence if it is necessary in the interest of the public peace and security.

The statement stated that before, during after August 11 general elections the listed suspended radio and TV stations have conducted their broadcasting “contrary to the IBA regulations.”

The three media institutions gave the opposition the much needed coverage after they were blacked out by the public media.
