PF MP praises HH declaration of drought as national disaster

Opposition Patriotic Front Chama North Member of Parliament DAVISON MUNG’ANDU has welcomed the declaration of the current of the dry spell as a national disaster and emergency.

In an interview with ZANIS in Lusaka, Mr. MUNG’ANDU commended President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA for the declaration.

Mr. MUNG’ANDU said the step taken is in the interest of the Zambian citizens saying the move will enable the Government to get assistance from both local and the international community and ensure that no one dies from hunger.

He has called on all well-meaning Zambians to support President HICHILEMA and Government in finding solutions to the effects of the drought that has affected some most parts of the country.

And Chief CHITIMBWA of the Lungu people of Mpulungu in Northern Province has also welcomed the declaration of the national disaster and emergency.

The traditional leader says the move will enable the international community and other well-wishers to come forward and offer assistance to the country.

On Thursday, President HICHILEMA declared the prolonged dry spell in the country as a National Disaster and Emergency.

The Head of state said the declaration is in accordance with the disaster management act number 13 of 2010 supported by other relevant legislations.
