Parley ratifies Mvunga’s appointment as Boz Chief

Hannock Kasama-Parliament has ratified the appointment of CHRISTOPHER MVUNGA as Bank of Zambia Governor.

Mr. MVUNGA was ratified after Members of Parliament debated the report of the Parliamentary Select Committee tasked to scrutinise the appointment of Mr. MVUNGA as Bank of Zambia Governor.

The report was presented by Parliamentary Select Committee Chairperson PETER DAKA who is also Patriotic Front -PF- MSANZALA member of parliament and seconded by KANTANSHI Independent member of parliament ANTHONY MUMBA.

Mr. DAKA told parliament that officials from professional bodies consulted and recommended that Mr. MVUNGA has qualifications to warrant his appointment.

Mr. MVUNGA was appointed Bank of Zambia Governor by President EDGAR LUNGU on August 22, 2020.

He replaces DENNY KALYALYA as Bank of Zambia Governor.

Mr. MVUNGA was Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet in charge of Finance and Economic Development, prior to his appointment as Bank of Zambia Governor.

He also served as Finance Deputy Minister in 2015.
