OPINION POLL PUTS ECL AHEAD

The Zambia National Students Union -ZANASU has projected that President EDGAR LUNGU will win the August 12 General Election with 57-point 17 percent of the vote.
According to the poll, opposition UPND Leader HAKAINDE HICHILEMA would come second with 37.33 percent of the vote.

This is according to the opinion poll that ZANASU carried out in which One Thousand Two Hundred and 98 respondents participated in 10 provinces of Zambia.

The opinion poll stated that One Thousand Two Hundred and 39 were registered voters accounting for 95-point 5 percent of the respondents.

The poll also showed that 71-point 58 percent have participated in one, two or all the three Elections conducted by the Electoral Commission of Zambia.

ZANASU president STEVEN KANYAKULA explained that the results showed that President EDGAR LUNGU remains popular among the respondents and HAKAINDE HICHILEMA is less popular.

Mr. KANYANKULA further explained that on tribal and regional voting Zambia has experienced in the last 20 years, 64-point 41 percent of the voters felt tribe or regional of a candidate won’t matter in the 2021 Elections.

Mr. KANYANKULA was speaking at a press briefing in Lusaka today.

He pointed out that investment in infrastructure development rated highly followed by education and health.

And ZANASU Vice President LAWRENCE KASONDE has praised Government for ensuring that the interest of miners on the Copperbelt was well taken care of.

Meanwhile, ZANASU Secretary General ISAIAH MAMBWE said the student’s union will take care of logistics for students who will be traveling to vote to various destinations.
