Nzovu warns erring investors

Fortune Malata- Green Economy and Environment Minister, COLLINS NZOVU has warned that government will NOT only suspend but also withdraw licences for investors, who contravene environmental laws.

Mr. NZOVU has also disclosed that government has proposed some amendments to the way the Zambia Environmental Management Agency -ZEMA- operates.

He has further says in order to achieve a transparent working culture, ZEMA inspectors, who are at the centre of registration and issuance of licenses, must be corrupt free.

Mr NZOVU was speaking in Lusaka, when he addressed ZEMA Inspectors at a one-day workshop, during which he also called on the agency to come up with stiffer punishments for all those that will go against regulations.

And ZEMA Acting Director-General, SIMON MWANSA said the population is increasing, therefore presenting new challenges, and as such, the agency must step up its performance.

Meanwhile, Anti-Corruption Commission Senior Community Education Officer, REBECCA MULENGWA said it is the mandate of the commission to ensure all employees are corrupt free.
