NRC SCAM UNEARTHED

Government has unearthed a scam in which some individuals are ferrying people from other towns to obtain National Registration Cards -NRCs- in areas under phase one of the Mobile issuance exercise.

Ministry of Home Affairs Permanent Secretary Masiye Banda says the practice must be stopped as it is exposing people to various risks.

Mr. Banda has assured Zambians that Phase Two of the mobile issuance of NRCs will soon be rolled out in other parts of the country not covered under phase one.

He was speaking in an interview with ZNBC News in Lusaka after inspecting the issuance of NRCs at Lusaka’s Chilenje Community Hall.

Mr. Banda said phase one of the mobile issuance of NRCs is progressing well.

And Mr. Banda has counselled Zambians prospecting for NRCs to observe COVID-19 guidelines.

He said there is need to maintain social distance and to wear face masks when queuing for NRCs and other services.
