“NO VACCINATION, NO ENTRY INTO ZAMBIA”

By Mary Kachepa

Tourism and Arts Minister RODNEY SIKUMBA says people visiting Zambia will no longer be quarantined but will have to present proof of a Covid-19 vaccination certificate and a negative polymerase chain reaction -PCR- test result.

Mr. SIKUMBA says without Covid vaccination certificate and PCR test results, tourists will not be allowed into the country.

He says government has withdrawn the travel advisory that listed a ten day mandatory quarantine upon arrival in the country.

Mr. SIKUMBA says the travel advisory which was issued on Friday by the Ministry of Health has been withdrawn to continue consultations with stakeholders.

He says it is unfortunate that there are a lot of tourist cancelling visits to Zambia.

Mr. SIKUMBA told ZNBC News in an interview that mandatory quarantine of people visiting Zambia will be the last resort.

And Mr. SIKUMBA said many tourists were discouraged because some planned to visit for two or three days and having to quarantine for ten days would not have been feasible.

He said many players in the industry have incurred losses due to the cancelled visits.
