NKANDU: PROVE OWNERSHIP OF FUEL TANKERS

Youth and Sports Minister ELVIS NKANDU has given a one week ultimatum to beneficiaries of fuel tankers to prove ownership or risk losing their trucks to other beneficiaries.

Mr. NKANDU says this is being done to clear the air over assumptions that the fuel tankers are owned by big business persons hiding under youth cooperatives.

He says he is also impressed to see that all 30 fuel tankers are in good condition and ready to hit the road once issues are cleared.

Mr. NKANDU however says he wants to see the state of the other 20 tankers under Mount Meru to ascertain if they are all intact.

The Minister was speaking when he inspected the fuel tankers at Kapesika Yard in Lusaka.

Mr. NKANDU has also called on women to take truck driving as a job because they too can manage to drive fuel tankers.

Meanwhile, Kapesika Energy and Petroleum Limited Chief Executive Officer KAPEMBWA SIKAZWE said his company stands ready to support Government on youth empowerment programs.

And Zambia’s first female tanker driver RABECCA LISWANISO appealed to the Minister to expedite processes to ensure the fuel tankers start operating.
