NICP TO BE DECENTRALIZED-KANGANJA

Inspector General of Police Kakoma Kanganja says the National integrity committee program, which is currently at police headquarters will be decentralised to all police divisions countrywide soon.

Mr. Kanganja says this is line with President Edgar Lungu’s agenda, who has stressed on the need to ensure that the national values and principles are inculcated in the public service.

Mr. Kanganja says this will also strengthen service delivery, build prudential financial management and a police unit that is biased towards zero tolerance to corruption.

He was speaking during the official opening of the Zambia police integrity committee training in Lusaka.

Mr. Kanganja said cases of alleged corruption, misappropriation of funds, embezzlement and fraud of public funds and other issues are reported every year which is a source of concern.

Meanwhile, Anti-Corruption Commission -ACC- Acting Director General Rosemary Khuzwayo said complaints by the public are a concern to all stakeholders and have the potential to affect service delivery at all police stations and police posts.

Mrs. Khuzwayo said an effective and well trained integrity committee is essential for the successful implementation of anti-corruption strategies in any organisation.

And Transparency International Zambia -TIZ- Executive Director Maurice Nyambe said integrity committees set up in any institution help to fight corrupt activities no matter the position held by any person.

Mr. Nyambe said he hopes that members of the committee from the Zambia police will dedicate themselves to delivery their mandate effectively without fear or favour.
