New Nkana fan favorite, Ackim Mumba eyes title defense and most assists in the league

Nkana’s new signing Ackim Mumba seems to have settled in quickly and hit the ground running at Scrivener, Nkana Stadium (Chilata)

Ackim Mumba joined Nkana on a two-year deal at the start of the season from Red Arrows.

The former Arrows player had a game of his life on Sunday and was voted man of the match in a week 10 fixture against Green Eagles, a game which Nkana won by three goals to one. Mumba was very instrumental for the defending Champions.

Speaking to the Zamfoot Crew after the game, Mumba pointed to a great reception in Kitwe as one of the factors as to why he has managed to settle too easily.

“My stay here has been great, I have been received very well which has helped me settle in quickly,” he said.

Nkana has a very passionate fanbase who demands nothing but the very best from their players hence players almost always feel the pressure to perform but Mumba has found a secret to handling the pressure through hard work and focus.

Mumba also believes Nkana have what it takes to defend the league they won last season. On a personal level, he is targeting making a lot of assists this season.

“It’s never Easy playing for Nkana football club there is Always massive pressure our fans expect a win from us in every game and give us massive support that pushes us every day to work extra hard. The pressure can be handled only with hard work and focus,” he said.

“Our target this season is to defending the league title, yes we have had a bad start to the season but I believe we have what it takes to win the league and also do well in continental football, and my target this season is to play as many games as I can to help the team achieve its target and on a personal level I would want to have the most assists in the league.”

“Our fans are the best so passionate there number one in the league and we want to repay them by putting smiles on there faces, I will always work hard for the team so that I and my teammates can bring success to the Club,” he added.

Ackim Mumba is a Lusaka young product and was introduced to the Super League by Red Arrows football Club in 2013.

Mumba also had a successful stint in Sweden where he played for IF Mölndal and was strongly linked to a second stint in Sweden before joining the Kitwe outfit.
