NCC TIPS CONTRACTORS

By Clinton Masumba:

The National Council for Construction -NCC- has urged local contractors to position themselves and benefit from the increased Constituency Development Fund -CDF.

Speaking during a consultative meeting with local contractors in Kitwe, NCC Executive Director ERNEST NSHINDANO said the Council will not allow foreign contractors to participate in the implementation of construction works under the CDF.

Mr. NSHINDANO also warned that the Council will not allow shoddy works from local contractors who will be engaged to work on CDF projects.

He added that the Council expects local contractors to do projects at cost reflective value stating that government is calling for value for money in the implementation of projects.

Meanwhile, NCC Director for registration and regulation JEREMIAH SANDE said the review of the NCC Act Number 10 of 2020 will see an increase in the number of local contractors undertaking works.

Mr. SANDE said previously it was difficult to implement the 20 percent sub contracting policy because it was not law.
