National Land Titling fails to reach target

The National Land Titling Programme failed to reach the target of issuing 96,000 titles because land owners did not pay for issuance after getting offer letters.

Ministry of Lands National Land Titling Programme Project Manager EMMANUEL TEMBO says some land owners get comfortable when the offer letters are issued and don’t feel the need to pay for the land title.

Mr. TEMBO says property owners have to pay a minimum of K1,000 before a title is issued and finish the payment in three years.

He has told ZNBC News that 46,000 land titles were issued under the National Land Titling programme last year.

Mr. TEMBO says this year’s target is 50,000 titles.
