National Division one side NAPSA Stars have caused an ABSA Cup upset after beating Nkana 4-2 on post match penalties.

The game ended goalless in regulation time.

The Pensioners have progressed to their third final after last winning the title ten years ago.

The 2022 first Semi-final encounter played at the Woodlands stadium in Lusaka saw the NAPSA progress to the final after converting four penalty kicks while Nkana converted only two.

NAPSA converted through MUSONDA KAPEMBWA, ENOCK SABUMUKAMA, DANIEL ADOKO and BONWELL SILENGO.

NKANA on the other hand converted the two spot kicks through GILROY CHIMWEMWE and STEPHEN CHILU while second half substitute BWALYA KASONDE and JACOB NGULUBE missed their spot kicks.

But hero of the afternoon was NAPSA goalkeeper RODWELL MUKWANYA who stepped up to save NGULUBE’s penalty sending his side into the finals.

And speaking after the game, NAPSA coach PERRY MUTAPA commended the team for making it to the final.

And NKANA football club Assistant Coach GEORGE CHILUFYA said the team put up a spirited fight despite losing on penalties.

And Nkana player, PATRICK GONDWE walked away with 15,000 Kwacha after being voted Man of the Match.
