NAPSA Stars edge ZESCO United to move up to fifth

ZESCO United’s woes have depeneed following their 2-1 loss to newcomers NAPSA Stars at Heroes Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.

Zega Mambo have now failed to win any of their last five games in all Competitions. The last win for the Ndola based outfit came on 11th September at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium, 2-1 over Lumwana Radiants.

Former Orlando Pirates winger Augustine Mulenga opened the scoring in the 3rd minute netting his first goal for the Pensioners with a long range strike.

The visitors leveled matters in the 19th minute through Vincent Oburu to make sure the match went to the break with the scores at 1-1.

Musonda Kapembwa converted from 12 yards after Gift Zulu was brought down in the box by Kelvin Mubanga Kampamba to seal the win for Perry Mutapa’s side.

The two teams finished with ten men each, after Daniel Adoko and Kelvin Mubanga Kampamba were both sent off for fighting.

A minute of silence was observed at the start of the match in honor of former Chipolopolo midfielder Enock Mwepu who was forced to retire at the age of 24 after being diagnosed with a hereditary heart condition.

The win takes the Pensioners to fifth place with 12 points while ZESCO United are 13th with 9 points.
