Nakambala’s winless streak continues as Kansanshi shock Wanderers at Shinde

Mazabuka based club Nakambala Leopards welcomed High Flying Nkwazi Football Club at Nakambala Stadium with hopes of registering their first victory after 3 straight losses. For Nkwazi Maintaining, they’re fine form from their previous encounter which saw them shock Zanaco 3-2 at Nkoloma was Cardinal.

Zeddy Saileti handed Timothy Banda and Tanzanian International striker Elias Maguri their first start of the Season. Elias partnered Junior Zulu in Attack for the Sweetboys. Mwila Nelson and Emmanuel Chabula lead the visitors’ attack.

Desperate Nakambala settled fast and started hunting for an early goal with the good pressing game on Nkwazi, Winger Felix Bulaya outstretched his marker with some fancy footwork setting up teammate Elias Maguri but the Tanzanian’s header was well handled by Nkwazi goalkeeper Dave Kaumbwa to keep matters level at 0-0.

In the 36min pressure mounted by Nakambala finally paid off as Lukwembe Chisenga beat two Nkwazi players before setting up Felix Bulaya who took no time Hitting the ball with the outside of his boot to beat Kaumbwa.

Jeff Banda pounced on a loose ball in the 18-yard area at the death of the first half to level matters and make sure the match went to the break level.

The second half waw less action than the first as both teams sat back holding unto the goal scored in the first half. Chipolopolo striker Emmanuel Chabula continued giving the Nakambala defense problems but Runs but Given Sinyangwe and Timothy Banda managed to keep him from shooting positions. The pacey Junior Zulu kept hustling for a goal but Kaumbwa kept making the right decision Upsetting the Sugar Boys.

At the end of 90 minutes, the two teams shared a point meaning Nakambala continue their winless streak while Nkwazi drop points after a beautiful performance against Zanaco.

After the match, Nakambala Leopards head coach Zeddy Saileti told the ZamFoot Crew that he was happy with the result.

“Am happy with the result especially that we haven’t grabbed any point in 3 games now, The character, attitude by my boys is impressive with. The improvement from our last game is massive and it tells me that we heading somewhere,” he said.

His counterpart Chris Kaunda said the match went according to plan. Kaunda revealed that their plan was to sit back and only attack when necessary.

“We Played as we had planned, we Knew Nakambala ain’t easy at home so we had to sit back and move only when it’s necessary, we came here for a win or a draw. It’s difficult to play here,” he said.

Next for is a tricky match in Kabwe against the magnificent People’s team, Kabwe Warriors while Nkwazi will welcome Lumwana Radiants at Edwin Imboela Stadium.

In Mufulira, Kansanshi Dynamos continued their dream start to the season as they beat Mighty Mufulira Wanderers 2-0 to move to third place on the log.

Royd Alufonso and Norbet Chisala scored a goal each to land the Mabanga Boys maximum points and their first win away from home.
