MWEETWA TASKS POLICE,RTSA

(ZANIS) Southern Province Minister CORNELIUS MWEETWA has directed the Zambia Police Service and the Road Transport and Safety Agency -RTSA- to ensure drivers of public service vehicles adhere to the rules governing their operations.

Mr. MWEETWA says the fatal road accident that occurred in Pemba last Thursday which claimed 17 lives could have been avoided if the law was followed.

The Minister who addressed thousands of mourners at the funeral service for the victims of the Pemba bus accident at Kanzinze stadium in Maamba today stressed the need for Police and RTSA to mount motorized patrols to curb road carnage.

Mr. MWEETWA says government is aware of the dangerous state of Batoka Maamba road which is as a result of many years of neglect but that the new dawn administration will work on it.

And Sinazongwe Member of Parliament GIFT SIALUBALO thanked Government for the support rendered to the bereaved families.
