MWAKALOMBE CALLS ON PRIVATE SECTOR

The Copperbelt Provincial administration has called on firms in Ndola to play a part in the ongoing construction and rehabilitation works on the Dag Hammarskjold road’s under bridge section.
Provincial Minister Japhen Mwakalombe said the provincial administration initially under estimated the cost of works to be undertaken which have turned out to be more than the resources budgeted to complete the works.
Mr Mwakalombe made the call in Ndola after inspecting works at the under bridge.
And Ndola City Council Director of Engineering Patrick Simuchimba informed the minister that the ministry of local government has taken up the responsibility of maintaining the Dag Hammarskjold road.
Meanwhile, Mr. Mwakalombe has appealed to the National Road Fund Agency to consider employing local people to work in all the three toll plazas in the province once operational.
He said this after touring the 4.2 million United States dollar levy Mwanawasa toll gate on the Ndola Kitwe dual carriage way which is anticipated to be complete by August 28.
And resident engineer Lehehiwot Girma said construction works at the toll gate are complete and only the installation of surveillance and toll gate equipment are remaining.
