MUYEMBE POSITIVE ABOUT IMF DEAL

Former Economics Association of Zambia -EAZ- Board Member MATTHEWS MUYEMBE says he is confident that the Zambian delegation attending the Spring Meetings of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund in Washington DC will clinch a deal on debt recovery.

Mr MUYEMBE has told ZNBC News in Chingola that the coming of China on the negotiating table for debt relief will make it easier for the country to restructure its debt.

He says even the recent appreciation of the Kwacha from 18 to 16 kwacha can be attributed to the positive news which investors are waiting to hear from the meetings in Washington DC.

Mr MUYEMBE says the delegation led by Finance Minister SITUMBEKO MUSOKOTWANE is capable of coming back with a deal which will help Zambia escape from its debt burden.
