MUSICIANS TOLD NOT BE USED BY POLITICIANS

Youth, Sport and Arts Minister ELVIS NKANDU has challenged musicians to stop being used by politicians but remain professional in their artistic careers.

Mr. NKANDU says politics has ruined careers of many musicians because they have allowed themselves to become cadres and campaign for politicians.

Speaking when he addressed artists at the Kitwe Little Theater on the Copperbelt, Mr. NKANDU advised musicians to produce songs for politicians when hired but they should not wear political regalia or perform at rallies.

The Minister said music is a business and it should not be mixed with politics.

Mr. NKANDU said some musicians who were involved in full time politics last year are now regretting because they have been labelled.

He has advised musicians to remain professional and produce music which unites the nation.

Meanwhile, Artists in Kitwe have asked the government to protect local content producers from foreign dominance.
