Moses Phiri nets screamer as Zanaco hand NAPSA Stars fourth straight loss

Second-half goals from in-form Moses Phiri and Rodger Kola helped Zanaco to a 2 nil win over Napsa Stars at Lusaka’s Woodlands Stadium.

The Pensioners welcomed the Bankers Zanaco at the Woodlands Stadium in what has been termed ‘le administrative leave derby’ on social after both teams sent their head coaches on administrative leave following dismal performances.

Interim NAPSA Stars boss Chintu Kampamba was looking to get his first win in charge having suffered a 1-0 defeat at hands of Kabwe Warriors in midweek. Robin Munsaka on the other hand was taking charge of the Bankers for the first time after the sending on leave of Chris Kaunda.

The match started on a slow note with chances coming far and apart. It became better in the second half with Jimmy Mukeya threatening for NAPSA and Moses Phiri being the biggest threat for Zanaco.

Phiri opened the scores in the 68th minute when he controlled deep in midfield, making a beautiful accelerating run towards goal before unleashing a thunderous strike from outside the box, Philip Banda in the NAPSA goal with no chance,1-0.

With the match heading for a 1-0 win, Roger Kola added a second in additional time to seal a hard-fought 2-0 win for the Bankers.

The win takes the Bankers to 53 points, five adrift of log leaders ZESCO United who have however played two games less.NAPSA Stars on the other hand remain stuck in the relegation zone with 36 points after 30 matches and they have now lost all their last four matches in the league.
