MORE HEAVY RAINS EXPECTED

By Peter Tembo:

The Zambia Meteorological Department says the country is expected to continue witnessing heavy rainfall due to the Tropical Storm Ana.

Meteorologist BATHSHEBA MUSONDA says Southern, Copperbelt and Luapula provinces will experience heavy rainfall due to the Ana tropical Storm which is currently positioned over Angola.

She says areas that are near Angola are bound to have these effects as the winds of the tropical storm passing through Zambia are rushing and feeding in to its low pressure.

Speaking in an interview with ZNBC News in Lusaka today, Mrs. MUSONDA added that updates as to when the storm is expected to stop affecting the country, will be available after January 31.

And Lusaka Province Acting Permanent Secretary ROBERT KAMALATA today visited Garden Township to check on the flood situation following last night’s heavy downpour in Lusaka.
