Mining Revival to benefit banking- Melu

ABSA Zambia Chief Executive Officer MZINGA MELU says the revived mining industry on the Copperbelt will benefit other sectors of the economy such as Banking.

Ms. MELU told ZNBC News in Kitwe that the decision by government to unlock the mining sector is commendable as it will contribute to the growth of the overall economy.

Ms. MELU says her Bank has positioned itself to take an active role in the growth of the mining sector in North Western and Copperbelt provinces.

Speaking when she met clients in Kitwe, Ms MELU said the bank will support both small and big mines with finances to procure equipment among others.

And Copperbelt Deputy Permanent Secretary DANIEL KAMENGA urged banks to come up with products to suit the needs of small- scale miners.

Mr KAMENGA commended the banking sector for getting back into the Copperbelt which is back on its wheels.
