Mine suppliers welcome govt stance on Mopani

The Association of Mine Suppliers and Contractors on the Copperbelt says the disclosure by President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA that the government has secured funding for the Mopani Copper mine has given them hope.

Association President COSTA MWABA says the economy of the Copperbelt depends on a thriving mine industry and that to hear that the government has secured funding brings joy to the Copperbelt.

Mr. MWABA said the association is also encouraged with the indication that matters affecting Konkola Copper mine are being tabled by government.

He has told ZNBC News in an interview in Kitwe that mine suppliers and contractors are happy with the efforts and commitments from the government in reviving both Mopani and KCM.

Mr. MWABA has, however, appealed to the government to actualise the local content bill so that it can benefit local contractors and suppliers.

Meanwhile Chililabombwe Mayor LUCKY SICHONE says government should return VEDANTA Mineral Resources and others for the betterment of Chingola District.

Mr. SICHONE says the works been done by Vedanta in Chingola in terms of Social Corporate Responsibility are there for everyone to seeā€¦
