MICHO PLOTS CHAN SUCCESS

By Chansa Kunda:

Chipolopolo Coach Milutin Sredojevic says his prime focus is to ensure the team gets past the group stage of the 2021 CHAN tournament.

Micho says he targets to pick up victories against group D opponents Tanzania, Namibia and Guinea before channeling his energies to the quarter and semifinals.

He was speaking to journalists in Cameroon after the team’s final pre-CHAN mini tournament match against Cameroon.

Micho said the CHAN team has a mammoth task of bringing dignity to the nation, looking at the nature of the competition.

He said with only two envoys left in the Confederation Cup, there is need for the CHAN team to perform to the best of their ability because they are representing Zambia’s domestic football.

And following the two-nil victory over Cameroon last night, Micho said the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon are a good side and should not be castigated for finishing bottom of the pre-CHAN mini tournament, as they have the ability to play better when the competition begins.

And Defender Adrian Chama said the victory is a major boost ahead of the CHAN competition.

Chama said the team’s morale in camp was low before the Cameroon game and that the victory has boosted their confidence levels.

Zambia emerged second at the pre-CHAN mini tournament after amassing four points behind tournament winners Uganda who had Seven points.

Niger finished third on four points and Cameroon were fourth with one point.
