MICHO PICKS COSAFA SQUAD

By Chansa Kunda- Chipolopolo Coach MILUTIN SREDOJEVIC has named his final 25-man squad for the COSAFA tournament with KENNEDY MWEENE headlining the team selection.

MWEENE returns to action for the Chipolopolo after years of absentia and is among the seven foreign based players that have made the final cut.

The South African based shot stopper who is on tabs for PSL giants Mamelodi Sundown is joined by new revelation, GREGORY SANJASE of Young Green Eagles and LAMECK SIAME of Kabwe Warriors in the goalkeeping department for the tournament that has kicked off today.

And according to the Football Association of Zambia-FAZ media website, MICHO has carried a blend of youth and experience in his quest to find a long-term competitive squad.

Players such as PROSPER CHILUYA, MOSES PHIRI, SPENCER SAUTU, BRIAN MWILA and SALULANI PHIRI that featured during the FIFA international window last month have made it to the final list.

Zambia who are the defending Champions, are placed in Group A alongside South Africa, Botswana, Eswatini and Lesotho.

Meanwhile the team has arrived in South Africa for the competition after leaving Zambia at 10:00 hours this morning.

Chipolopolo will play their first game on Thursday against Lesotho before facing Eswatini on Sunday and will on the 13th of July battle Botswana before concluding their Group A action 24 hours later against host nation South Africa.
