MEDIA URGED TO ACQUAINT THEMSELVES WITH ELECTORAL LAWS

Governance, Elections, Advocacy, Research Services -GEARS- Initiative Executive Director McDonald Chipenzi has advised journalists and media houses to acquaint themselves with the laws that govern elections and Electoral reporting.

Mr. Chipenzi says understanding the law, will help media houses and journalists to cover and report on elections and the Electoral process, fairly and accurately.

He says 2021 is a crucial year and that journalists need to be well equipped with knowledge of the law so that the public can benefit from their reports.

Mr. Chipenzi said this at the GEARS media training on the Electoral laws and election reporting, in Livingstone today.

And speaking at the same event, Livingstone Press Club President, Hilda Akekelwa, challenged journalists to invest their time in research to deliver insightful and balanced stories.

Mrs. Akekelwa has thanked GEARS Initiative for embarking on a programme to train and equip journalists in the district with skills to cover elections.
